Office Policies
Patients are seen by appointment only. Please schedule at least one month in advance, as the office is frequently booked with appointments months out.
Payment in full is due the day the prosthesis is delivered, unless prior arrangements have been made.
We do not participate with insurances. Most insurance companies do not have an Ocularist in network, so it is possible get in network coverage in most cases with the claims we submit on your behalf.
For an insurance company to consider a claim it has to be medical necessary. Only your personal doctor can request a prosthesis to be fitted and made due to the loss of your eye. This is usually done by the doctor with a written referral to our office. We will help with prior authorization if needed or an approval from your insurance company.
We do work with Medicare insurance as a fee for payment provider on a non assignment basis. This means medicare sends you, the patient, the payment. If you have supplemental insurance along with Medicare they will also send that part of the payment to you. Because you are receiving the payment from your insurance company it means that the payment is due to us when the prosthesis is delivered.
We do not accept New Jersey Medicaid or any of the Medicaid HMOs. This is because their allowable fees are one third of the cost of our service.
If a family member or assistant accompanies you to your appointment, please be aware that our waiting room space is limited.
